Physical education refers to the process of imparting systematic instructions in physical exercise, sports, games, and hygiene. It aims to train our body, mind, and conduct of our students. To keep a healthy mind within a healthy body; a student needs regular physical exercises. All-embracing infrastructure has been made available for the convenience of our students who wish to participate in any sporting event. In fact, every student takes part in a sport or the other. The extensive coaching is given them to acquire proficiency in the game as their choice. Students are segregated into four houses namely Cavalier, Knights, Spartans, and Kshatriyas. Intra-mural games and sports are conducted to promote healthy competitions among four houses where the adrenaline is gushed up as they take part in all events energetically. Trained coaches encourage the children to try a wide selection of sports and games like gymnastics, skating, table tennis, football, badminton, chess, carom, karate, athletics, kho-kho and cricket etc. This promotes our students to strengthen themselves, additionally develop the flexibility; eye-hand and eye-foot co-ordination as well as muscular endurance. Students are also encouraged to take part in inter-school competitions. Our staff members are delegated to guide and accompany the teams for tournaments at District, State and National levels. It is a matter of pride that Spice Valley students regularly emerge victorious in several events such as skating, chess, yoga, athletics etc. The sports committee of our school provides students opportunities to relieve stress of the academic rigor and focus on personal development.
Spice Valley - Foot ball tournament - 2017
District Level Football Tournament 5-A Side was held on 11th & 12th of February 2017, in The Spice Valley Public School ground for the grades from VI - VIII participated in this tournament. The event was presided by Mr. P. Sekar, Inspector of Police, Bodi.
The focus of hosting such an event is to provide a platform for students to exhibit their football tactics rather than giving them a Physical Education period. Objective of this tournament was to provide an opportunity for the students to take part in all other forthcoming football matches; to assist them to display their skills in a sportive way and to educate the students to work as a team and strengthen the sportsmanship quality.
Since we believe that our students should develop their minds while instilling positive values like teamwork and sportsmanship, we try to motivate our students to develop their skills rather than focusing on winning and losing. To promote this mission we have stopped the culture of giving trophies and medals for winning places in different activities. However, we acknowledge the students participation and achievement by awarding them with certificates. Likewise, during the football tournament, students who achieved the man of the match from each teams was awarded with certificates by the chief guest.
The tournament was organized by our football coach Mr. Bala Mari with the help of
Mr. Eswaran. Our hearty gratitude to all the class teachers coaches and parents for preparing the students for this event; showed a sportsman spirit throughout the tournament. It was a grand successful tournament as such the parents and students enjoyed the event.
